The client had recently renovated the interior of their beautiful home on the North Downs with stunning views across the valley and asked me to totally redesign their steeply sloping garden that had been neglected over the years by previous owners. The brief was to create a stunning deck area from the house to take in the amazing views, whilst also providing a relaxation and casual dining area, using Millboard composite decking. The steeply sloping garden was then terraced, with an upper lawn area for play and a central garden entertaining area for dining, BBQing plus lawn for yoga sessions and seating areas in the shade. This terrace nestles into the Downs, still giving spectacular views but also a sense of enclosure and privacy. A large area of lawn at the bottom of the plot was also cleared of years of neglect to provide space for play for the client's dogs, plus family and friends. An extensive lighting system was also installed providing aesthetic as well as functional lighting to ensure safety in the darker months on this steep site.
